ICBA and Barry Ward SC TD welcome attendees to Leinster House to discuss the intersection of politics and justice with a look back at one of the most notable episodes of skilled political advocacy, Johnathan Swift’s Drapier’s Letters. Garnet Orange SC will examine the 7 political pamphlets which inspired a nationwide boycott in 1724-1725. Followed by a ‘Fireside Discussion’ with Barry, Garnet and ICBA chair Shaun Smyth BL.
At the end of the presentation, participants will:
- Understand the subtle art of political advocacy.
- How to effect legal change.
- Learn how to structure and build an argument over time.
- Learn the art of written advocacy.
